The small hunter type MO-4 (“gnat”, “sea hunter”) is a subclass of small warship designed to search, track and destroy submarines in the near-shore and coastal zones; to carry out patrol service and guard transport ships and vessels.
During the World War 2 the service tasks were considerably extended. The MO-4 was widely used for amphibious operations, not only as a landing ship, but also as a means of artillery and anti-aircraft support.
